we were walking down irving street in the sunset and were noting how many places had signs that said "the best cheesecake in the world" or the "best this or that" etc, and we happened upon this place called Alvin's that said "the best coffee in the world" but it turned out to be some of the best coffee i've ever had, in the states at least. no hint of bitterness anywhere and not that fucking burnt flavor that everything from starbucks has. it's a little family owned place and they all ork there, mom, pop (the "master roaster"), son and daughter. adorable. yes i'm avoiding work right now.
