she had a unique voice. it was as if you tried to ground paperclips using a mortar and pestle. years of smoking fiberglass and mixing evan williams into your coffee every morning can have that effect. it was as if her mouth was trying to escape her wasted life by subconsciously urging her to fill it with poison - a behavior that had caused her lips to pickle and crack. the corners of her mouth had been pulled for so long towards the bottom of her chin that though they had long since atrophied, her face was stuck in a perpetual disapproving frown. her eyes offered the only glimmer of humanity left in her face. they often provided a contradiction to her worn face. they had decided long ago to work against the mouth and offered contrition for her otherwise horrid demeanor and appearance.
