    You make a valid statement, but sustainable design does exists, and it means to think in the future. Instead of designing with your consumer in mind, start designing with the landfill in mind, how can you as a designer, prevent your products to end up in the landfill.

    Yes, the way from your design in illustrator to the the box at the consumer's house is very long, and everyone needs to do their part (with in most cases won't happen, so even if your orange juice pack is made out of corn and its 100 compostable, it may end up in the trash anyways.

    Eco-friendly design is the first step that should be attempted to reduce unnecessary trash, reduce production numbers to match consumer demands, as opposed to just mass produce.

    Yes, its a problem of consumption, but if you can reduce the impact just a little bit, then you are helping. its small but is something.
