I'm quietly glad that I am not the only one suffering the same response from clients of all sizes. It is enough to make you slit your wrists at the table and make them suck your blood out of your body until you resemble a deflated sex doll. They are usually the same people that say things like, 'we also want better SEO with our new web site' without actually having a clue what SEO is or that it is as meaningless as their very own existance.
Personally I'd call them (or better email - at least written proof) and say 'Thanks, but no thanks'. I've had six instances almost parallel to this since November last year and clients like this, who do not value your service are not worth working with.
My dad always says that those who are afraid to talk about money or show any realistic commitment should be avoided at all costs. In my experience he's on the money.
