As silly as it sounds. I think it is true that the core spinning protects us from radiation. Its spinning is what generates the electromagnetic field around the planet. Its also the spinning that keeps the magnetic field stable.

Its a computer simulation of a magnetic field reversal done at ucsc. Very cool images and reading. We used some of the images in the site.Thats for the props on the site. It was a blast to work on.
BTW. I think the movie is better than the trailer lets on. Apparently it tested well. But dont quote me on that.
