  It's the "appearance of blacks" preference that horton pointed out which makes blacks look washed out when viewing outside illy.

  Question for all you 40-20-20-100 (and similar) people: do you use these formulas when printing offset? Do you use 4-color black for text? Doesn't it piss off your printers?

  • yes but never for text. only for large areaslajj
  • yes rich blacks are used specifically for offset...horton
  • and what lajj said, never use rich black in fine text. instead use 100K and set to overprint.horton
