Site looks pretty good, it's for a corporate software company so I think it does a good job of making information uniform and easy to find. I wouldn't expect some crazy groundbreaking design or navigation for a software company.
My question is more a personal one: I grew up in Utah valley and worked there for a year or two during and just after college. I found the design jobs there to be GROSSLY underpaid and wonder if that is still the case? I think because you have 60,000 college kids in that small area and because of the unique mormon culture there, they are able to get hard working, talented employees for very cheap.
So then, as a barometer let me try to set up a comparable scenario. Let's say you work at another corporate software company but instead it's located in the Bay Area, Oracle for example. I would expect an Art Director at Oracle would probably make somewhere around 100k, does a similar position in Provo make less than half that?
Sometimes I think I would like to move back to Utah to be close to my family but I would probably make half or less what I make now. Utah just pays SHIITE. Agree? Disagree?- The average designer in Utah does make less than other areas but it depends a lot on who you work for. Cost of living is quite a bit less here than in other areas too. I can't speak for everyone but I work for Axis 41 and they are great when it comes to pay and benefits. True in-house designers may get less, but the firms here seem to pay fairly well.mjbauer
- I know they make less in Utah, but would you say they make half? Not sure what your title is, have you compared it to someplace else?threadpost
