4 am: woke in a suffocating panic. A dream about our daughter disappearing. Couldn’t get back to sleep. Too much thinking. Another day lost to black, murderous rage. And beneath that, an undercurrent of everpresent fear. Time is running out.
I watched my father die—an event of immense sadness, but somehow sacred.

Ringing in ears. Pain in chest, jaw, upper arm.
Fisherman’s bluefish recipe: nail it to a hardwood plank and roasted over an open fire. When the edges curl up, throw away the fish and eat the plank.
