Having been working in design for 20 years (yes i am an old fart, fuck all y'all) i can safely say that there is always the next big thing... but try to keep that in the context of industry within which we work. Style over content will undoubtedly work for certain areas of creative design and it will be gone just as quickly as it arrived, ephemeral change within design is healthy. But to say that a certain style will prevail/win out over another is just naive, The new ugly is the old rave which was the new punk which was... ahhh you get the picture... basically .
