    If the receiver can do the signal processing, then yes you should be able to get it to work. I'm not an audiophile by an means and pretty ignorant so take everything I say with a grain of salt :)

    Does your receiver have any sort of controls for "listen mode" or the likes? On my receiver, I can select how the signal should be processed - Stereo, Virtual Surround, Dolby Surround, Dolby Pro Logic, etc... If I have a stereo signal coming in, and select the pro logic option, it attempts to break it up into the correct channels. But, like I said, the quality usually kinda sucks (IMO) and I end up just listening in stereo mode since that seems to give the best sound. The processed surround always sounds muddy and dead.
