  I remember Rome in Spring, with tourist children skipping gaily around the Trevi fountain, audibly drowning in the energetic warble of a thousand Vespas and a hundred children shrieking. The bittersweet memory of espressos in the Piazza Navona and the soft floral note of dear Petulia's fragrance as she sat down beside me and told me it was over.
