I like it..just to recap previous comments, I might try reducing the line weight within the non-nav space..maybe also, color theme the nav pics (2 tone), to add a little more weight to that area.
I was a little confused by the 45 degree bevels top an bottom, I think it would be nice simply squared.
I like it the more I look at it, actually :)...let us know how it progresses.
