I missed Killer Queen's point about seamless content updates (changing content without reloading the whole page). But the fact that there's now an option for this that doesn't bring the host of disadvantages that Flash-exclusivity does is more important to me than the fact that Flash did it first. It's one less selling point and one that never appealed enough to me to use Flash for anything other than delivering animated content.

I will admit that Flash sites tend to look sharper. I assume this has more to do with the likelihood that Flash-exclusive designers tend to come from a more graphic design/visually oriented backgrounds than any inherent advantage of the way flash draws.

To those of you who fit that description, I would highly recommend taking the time to learn the ins and outs of the other tools at your disposal.

Trust me, if you've learned the ins and outs of Flash to the point of insisting you can do everything with it, I don't think learning the ins and outs of the other stuff is going to be as hard as you think it is and that will vastly improve the quality and ease of your work.

    • Eww... why did I write "ins and outs" like three times in the same post.Pherdnut
