i was in the same position 2 months ago - wanted to leave cos hadn't learnt anything for a year, finally made up my mind to go and of course they offered me LOADs of money to stay. But i thought if i stayed for the money, they'd totally own me, i'd find it impossible to leave in the future and i'd hate myself...
so i left and started freelancing, and it's been great. i don't take any jobs longer than a few weeks, so the variety is fantastic. the money is brilliant. i'm building in time between projects for music which is what i really need.
the only advice i'd give is that i didn't save or anything before i left so i was kinda screwed for money the first month. save up enough to last yourself 2-3 months, then you'll be under less pressure to take work you don't want.
