I'd like to moan about soemthing else now. And its this...

About six months ago I decided enough was enough and it really really really was time to stop doing this very digital style of work that I first did millions of years ago and have made my living from ever since. The problem with being an illustrator is that the commissioning process is creatively retroactive... by that I mean you only commissioned to repeat soemthing the client can see you've done before, so when you are succesful that brings with it its own failure in the sense that you don't get time to evolve and eventually you get stuck with a folder full of metallic 3d bling work becuase that's all anyone has asked you for.

Anyway, six months ago I said, "right, tear up the portfolio, enough is enough, you can do new, better, exctiting things and you can create a new collection of work that people will admire. Finish up this stuff, then burn it all, really burn it all and start afresh with the kind of work you want to do next"

I have yet to get to the end of the road. I still have projects ongoing that I just can't get rid of and they're taking up all my time.

    It DRIVES ME NUTS.

I got asked to do an album sleeve last summer and what they want is frankly AS TACKY AS HELL and I've told them so. I agreed to do it though and promised myself THIS IS THE LAST ONE AND I'M DONE WITH THIS SHITE. That project keeps going on and on without a release date, and this week they said it wont be released until June at the earliest and they're now doing three singles beforehand.

SO THATS EVEN MORE OF THE CRAP TACKY ILLUSTRATION WORK FOR ME.

I'm disgruntled today. Who took my gruntles?
