I caved and bought Converse slip-ons instead of Vans. I regret it. They're crap and fell apart promptly. Thanks alot, Nike! In fact, I just wrote to Converse to complain, as follows.
Hello, to whom this may concern:
I bought a pair of plaid Converse slip-ons about 6 months ago. I had
reservations about purchasing Converse after you've been acquired by NIKE, but I decided to give it a shot. Here's the shoe on your website: http://www.converse.com/index.as…What a let-down. After four months, the fabric started to tear away
from the outsole (welt?). I don't mean that the glue loosened, I mean
that the actual fabric of the shoe was tearing. It seems that the vamp is made of two layers. The bottom layer hasn't torn, but the plaid fabric on the top has torn. Now, after six months, not only has it torn away from the outsole, but it's tearing in other places, like
across the toe. I don't wear these shoes that often. The soles of the
shoes are in fact still in great shape, you can still feel where the
velvety material on the bottom is.I just wanted to write to express my extreme disappointment in this
product, made of shoddy materials. I will no longer purchase Converse brand items, unless, of course, they are the vintage pre-NIKE era shoes.Sincerely,
Anzelina
