I was also a PS guy. Loved my PS2 and it was hard to part and definitely took some getting used to. Plus, I'm a Mac guy and it was torture endorsing a Microsoft product, but...
I'd go XBOX360. I've had mine for over 2 years now and not one problem. XBOX Live is great...love demoing games before buying them. Plus at the rate things are going I'd put my money on XBOX being around longer than the PS3. Plus, I think the 360 is smaller than the PS3 and doesn't take up as much space.
