    I lived there for 4 years.

    Bangkok is awesome, but a bit overwhelming....dirty, noisey, but really fun...when the noise pollution gets you down head out.

    Quick relaxing trips from Bangkok are to the islands Ko Samet, Ko Chang, and the cities of Ayuttahya and to the Bridge over the River Kwai.

    I would extend for three weeks and go see angkor wat and add in a scuba trip to the similan islands...before you react...NOT EXPENSIVE.
