Oddly the site runs BETTER on my crappy work mac than it runs on my slammin work PC. I respect the fact that he:
1) Spent all the time to put the video clips together.
2) Had the time to dedicate to a tired and overdone aesthetic.
Seriously, its ambitious, but really doesn’t leverage that much of flash, and while the video clips are well done, they aren’t doing anything we haven’t seen before. In fact, I remember getting a cd catalog from Savannah School of Art and Design that had similar objects moving around as nav elements. I actually remember talking to him on IM and he had no idea of using math and actioscripting to do anything in flash. “I just use keyframes and tweens” he said. That was a while ago. There's a lot more that flash can do other than being a glorified video playback platform.
Ehh...he’s a good animator, but not a good creative, it really isn’t a fresh look, just a stale, ego-driven look done well. Apparently he’s making money, but I really wish he was turning out good work AND making money. Show us something we HAVEN'T seen before with your great techical sense Billy!
And rummy, this thread is just evidence that people in our industry aren't good at being critical in an intellectual sense when it comes to disussing work.
