slows me down? it's not like i take it to the track all the time or get all dorky fast and furious with it.
the purpose of a wing is to keep the rear end down, not that it's going to lift (like the early Audi TT's) but it helps with many aspects of driving, handling being the major one. also, notice the amount of space that is open in the center of the wing. now if it was closed, then yeah, it would slow the car down; be like having a wall on the trunk.
the wing was designed by the same person who designed the car, who is also responsible for designing the Mclaren F1, so i don't think he said, "hmmm....how can i make this car slower."
