    so, correct me if i'm wrong here, but he's saying that graphic design is (or should be) art and that making a living by doing client work is somehow the same as being darth vadar and thus artless?

    sounds like the voice of a frustrated artist hiding behind academic sounding (typo/spelling error-ridden) rhetoric to me. i might be wrong, but i don't recall paul rand ever identifying as an artist; he was a "commercial artist" or graphic designer who was insanely talented.

    not to mention that being an "artist" means selling your pretty pictures to the super rich and the super corporations of the world. how is that any different/better than being a graphic designer? either way, the MAN is paying the bills.
