    Yeah I mean, if you go back and listen to Kraftwerk, they were making stuff that sounds very much like techno back in the 70s. But I stand by what I said - it was Derrick May and co in Detroit that laid the foundation for the modern sound. They really kicked off the whole movement that was repurposed by Europeans artists into hardcore (which later evolved in D n' B), trance (a.k.a. your Sasha and Digweeed) and more direct descendents like Tresor style techno and minimal.
