To be honest I never gave it much thought, but after thinking a wee bit about it I have to agree with you.
Constitutions (long inextricable boring pieces of paperwork) become obsolete in a few years. Unless they're kept to a minimum (like detritus said: no more than a A4) they tend to freeze rights, duties and institutions more than preserve them in a lively manner. That's true.
it's probably like smoking or not:
the thought of quitting doesn't make any sense to you - you know that it is killing you, but you can't picture your life without it - whereas if you don't smoke you can't figure out what drives so many people into some expensive absolute nonsense.
