One time, when I was young, I called 911 because I wanted to know what it was all about. My family was having a party downstairs. I used the phone to call, then put it down and ran away to hide upstairs. The dispatchers / police called back a few seconds later to talk to my parents and people in the house to make sure nothing horrible was going on, and then that was it. But I wonder...what if someone was actually in trouble and called, but then their abuser (or whatever) talked as if though nothing happened and the call must've been a glitch or something?
I clearly think about things too much...
