No you do not have to upload an FLA. Again, that's the authoring file.
When you upload something for FLV playback, you'll have three files in the folder (assuming you're not scripting it so it can import numerous external files)
1. FinalFlashSite.swf
2. PlayerSkin.swf
3. Video.flv
