"so let me see if I follow right?"
    - i can tell you you ain't

"Facebook was just valued at $15 Billion... and Microsoft is in talks of purchasing (i think that's right)..."
    - incorrect. facebook sold 1.6% of it's social al program/data mining to M$ of which that feature set was said to be worth $240M. they did NOT sell 1.5% OF Facebook. big difference. additionally, that valuation is a load of crap as some journalist did simple math and said that is what the lot of Facebook corp would be worth. not even close. it is for future, proprietary data rights that M$ deal was valuated at, not company worth.

"... but now Myspace is joining in w/Google..."
    - true. it is a deal for the OpenSocial platform only.

    ... sooooo...

"... basically - that $15 billion value (of Facebook) was a load of shit?"
    - no.

    "If Myspace... is Google... then...
    ... Facebook... is no more?"
    - read it again. google did not purchase nor will it control anything MySpace does.

"I'm wondering if these 'social network' sites are going to be the second DOT COM bust... how long will these sites stay trendy and popular?... LOADS of cash being thrown at them."
    - a very long time. effectively, platforms that enable user-generated content to be combined across what were before, essentially 'closed' networks will be the furture of the internet to a large degree. at least the public side of it.
