    thanks for the responses.

i was born in vancouver, but raised mostly in Montreal, which for many of you WASPs and North American media is considered "more european". heh. So consider me an east coster.

I've work in NYC for 3 months. but i think i've had my dose of it. I was recently in SF, and loved it. I like the landscape, it inspires me. My move is motivated by my being an artist, and work second, and quality of life. I know first hand that the New York electronic music and digital arts scene is not as progressive as New York's. NYC is all about indie rock and forms of hip hop, and a some experimentalism, but the prevailing ethos seems to be "don't experiment, or you won't be famous". which i know from many SF established artists is the nyc compromise of living in a big city. the nyc electronic music is non-existant compared to montreal's. heh.

i love nyc too though very much, and love the microcosms of people. but i think the excess of people gets to me. it numbs me. i guess it's not a place i want to call home for now?

I know SF also has a hefty does of bourgeois, and that's fine by me. i can live in my own bubble. heh. and being homosexual, it's interesting to know that the gay population there is at a critical mass to foster interesting fags that don't necessarily subscribe to gay culture.
