  Not to start a religious debate but Christians and Jews have been interested in the ties between those two countries for years. Ezekiel describes a war (Gog and Magog) that takes places after Isreal is reinstated as a nation. The aggressors against Isreal being Russia and Persia together. That war is considered the beginning of what will be the end times.
