Wouldn't go with a used board unless it's a very unused used board. There's a limited number of times you can get the edges sharpened and the base reground so it may have a very short useable lifespan.
Although if you're in the US you're probably not boarding on rocks and ice as much as we do in Europe so it may not be such an issue - lucky gits.
