as a skateboarder, i've had more than my fair share of run-ins with police. i can say that most of the time the police are respectful until you give them a reason to not be. the big difference comes with how much experience the cops have. I've noticed that the younger ones almost always make a production out of every little stop/arrest. the older ones tend to chill and will genuinely try to be cool with you (as i said before, if you act cool with them). I actually had a young cop pull his gun on me once for reaching to get my wallet after he asked me for an ID, (we were skating in a city lot). I bout shit my pants that day.
