    Speaking from a musical perspective what I loved about Zep was that they're songs were very composed but there was plenty of improvisational room in them..they walked that fine line between playing a composition and then taking somewhere different without losing sight of the original song. That and how Jimmy Page's solos are integral parts of the song. I mean you couldn't play a different solo and have the same song - yet Pagey mixed it up nightly. Amazing. Whereas the Who never really improvised much and the Stones were all about "Let's hit some chords and see what comes out, I'm sure we'll stumble on our song somewhere in the mess..."

    That tension between composition/improvisation is hardly ever reached by bands - especially these days...
