    that may or may not be true, a gun on their hand does not mean that they would have stopped the crime, it could also mean that the whole thing turned into a bloodbath where he got the intruder on the leg, and then he shot him back, and the rest of the family..

    THERE IS NO WAY TO PROVE any of these scenarios, just like there is no way to prove that them having a gun would have made a positive difference.
