i feel for you, i have had the same
I've been seeing psychiatrists briefly but they don't tend to help much in my case. They say things I already now and diving in the past is not always the solution (althought methods vary greatly of course, also per continent). If you are really without a way out it can never hurt to see one.
I've noticed going to gym helps, concentrating on work or go on a holiday. Changing context provokes new ideas and insights for me, at least. I read books like Power of Now (eckhart tolle). Self help books are not the answer either but some of them gave me a lot better view on how thoughts work than than any traditional western help. Learning how the mind works (self-insight not some doctrine that you must learn) helped my view into the causality of thought when it comes to emotions.
Hope you feel better soon! See your friends as much as possible, airing thoughts is very different than the internal mental construct that can keep going..and going...
I know many people use medicine to deal with things but i have seen that it can lead to strong dependency..
