just think about how bad people have it in Iraq, Darfur, Burma .... then you will know that our day to day struggles are not that bad .....

(Oct 15 07, 07:05)Good Lord, NO! The exact-opposite is what you should be thinking upon - depression can only be mitigated by hope!
For Fuck's sake, that's a ridiculous thing to say, BattleAxe!
Turn off the news, stop buying the 'papers - get as far away as you can from those evils of reality that you have no control over.
Dig out optimistic/amusing news stories (the internet is good for this), listen to upbeat music, read a good fantastical book - don't mire yourself in more shit.

(Oct 15 07, 07:12)well said Nairn,
if you're feeling down, the pain and suffering of others is not likely to cheer you up.
Personally even seeing traffic and wondering how on earth there is enough iron in the world to produce all the buses, cars and lorries is enough to make me feel worse, let alone thinking of wars and famines.
Going outside helps, as does exercise, getting out of breath does wonders for the mind!
