Yeah, that's a pretty general statement. Just go there, you'll see how vast it is. There is poverty, like everywhere else, but also the opposite. I would avoid Goa if you really want to get into India. Goa is the Cancún of India, if you just want to party with other tourists. Also, don't be afraid of the food, just make sure you eat where everyone else is eating. Not that empty street cart with no customers. I made that mistake and vomited so hard I ripped my throat lining, ouch! Otherwise, it's a vegetarian paradise! Stay positive and open minded...
