well, myself with my ipod, and the others that share this home with theirs, all have a dynamic sound range available to us anytime we wish to plug it into the surround system and share with everyone.
other than that you are instantly diminishing your sound quality by using the standard headphones that came with the ipod, they do not cover the range the units output is capable of sending.
i recommend the bose buds that were released for about $100, the difference was night and day when i tested them.
