i've been doing research into this stuff because i'm trying to start a label. I know I'm ahead of the curve because i'm young and am acustomed to the new technology. Bottom line is the entertainment industry is a relic and really only just now NEW BUSINESS MODELS are beginning to emerge. Feist's entire album was available on myspace, promo copies flood the internet like wild fire and all this is GOLD to record companies. It's just a new way of thinking and yes it's extremely complicated, ultimatly copyright laws MUST be rewritten and an entire paradigm shift will happen, is happening.

    see ,
    http://creativecommons.org/

creatively speaking this is the new thing. Something similar will happen with actual copyrights for distribution...more artists are releasing all their stuff with these licenses.

    I still ain't a criminal, the bootleggers are, I ain't.
