my basic perspective on this issue: to me it's like I don't spend any more or less on music since I started downloading because i don't make any more or less money. i still buy i just get to listen to WAY more full albums. The industry has yet to prove it loses anything and for the most part it's gaining from more exposure and cross over revenue. I'd garuntee you there's more regular music listeners/fans in this world since the internet took everything over. i've also heard the info gained from these sites are actuallly hugely important in gauging markets for these companies.

STEALING would be if they lost something, if I went in and physically stole a disc they lost that CD, that's the general principle behind stealing, if something got taken and was subsequently lost. An mp3 can be transfered / reproduced infintly, the band and record company didn't lose or gain anything from me downloading a peice of digital information that happens to sound like music they produce. If they argue they lost 4% of total revenue because of pirating, an imposible number to calculate by the way, I personally didn't single handedly cause that. Nor did the individuals that make up the mass of music downloaders. The internet and the new means of distribution is generally responsible. The times are a a changin and if they can't handle that they're fucked. Their business will fail because they're too stuborn to get a more modern business model and blaming the consumer (and fans).
