And the declaration was all they did. Because they wanted the Jews that were already there to help them drive the Turks who ruled what was them called Palestine/Southern Syria, out.
They sent ships with Jews that tried to get to Israel back and put some of them in prison camps in Cyprus.
So yes, there was an empty declaration. Big fucking deal. That's not exactly The British Empire backing up the Jews. Already a large population of Jews in Israel at the time. The only people this declaration helped is modern-day demagogues who want to present people who bought and owned lands for generations as colonialists backed by empires.
The only states the British helped form in actuality where Iraq, Egypt, the Emirates and Jordan (and with the help of France Syria and Lebanon). So are those not legitimate states?
Stop living in the past. It is the situation now that needs to be solved. Not 1848, 1925, 1948 or even 1967. Bringing up the past over and over is what prevents an actual solution from emerging. Be just with the people that are alive today, not the idiots that killed each other in the past.
The only solution that will produce anything is two countries for the two peoples.
