not too sure about san fran, but you might want to fly form san fran to vegas then rent a car from vegas to l.a, in vegas if your going for cheap chicken circus circus gets pretty cheap and its on the strip(where the action is) if your gonna go whale style(mucho money) stay at the bilagio very very nice, about 4 hr drive to l.a form vegas, dont know where in l.a your staying cus l.a is huge, but down town is 20 mis away from everything, so look into that, this site might help
