    If you are doing your backups the right way, drive failure shouldn't be considered a problem (i.e. to be really safe, you should assume that any given hard drive will fail today with complete data loss, and plan your backup strategy from there...) I'd recommend drives over DVD's but then I'm backing up 100s of GB of content...

    You definitely want to use backup software (like Retrospect), so that it does incremental backups of just the changed files, daily, without you havin g to do anything. The nice thing is you can also jump back to any earlier saved version of every file, so its like a versioning system too...
