to generalize and say liberals aren't interested in security is just flimsy.
I don't think you, fox news or the bush administration actually believe that, its only said to create unnecessary public fear and it makes for a cute sound byte and a nice slogan.
the terrorists hate our freedom, liberals don't want security, being anti-war/pro-peace is anti-patriotic. These are all so transparent, you're fooling yourself if you think people actually fall for it.
I love this country. I believe we should never use war for economic gain that it should always be directly provoked and always the last measure.
I also believe that we've stirred up a hornets nest and that we cant simply walk away, we need to evolve our role in Iraq to that of operations and not direct security.
I believe all these things and I also align my political paradigms with people like Noam Chomsky, Bertrand Russel, Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Joseph Déjacque and Robin Hahnel and believe in things like direct democracy and a level economic and social playing field. In other words, I am a liberal. Imagine that, I believe in security (done legally) and I am a flaming anarcho-socialist-liberal.
