    She's far too driven and motivated with her career to walk away and stay at home. I'm positive that would completely drive her crazy.

    Yup, I know so many people like this. Hmm...that makes the decision a tad more difficult. Spending time with your kids is very important (as I'm sure you know), but if you can efficiently allocate time to spend with them during the week while taking on the new job, it'll be great. Unless the commute really does bother you A LOT.
