definately in the right ball park..
The negative space in the 'arm' of the excavator is a great 'A', is there any way you could simplify the outline, invert it or something, so its just more 'half - a/half excavator', then just drop the caption in underneath, really simply?
I might also be tempted to try a slightly less butch font, maybe even Triplex or something a bit more quirky and post 2k, but I understand its kind of a slightly retro-macho industry. I do like the lines of the excavator though, I'd work on from that.
Get 5 that you are happy with, choose the best one, and TELL the client this is it. Otherwise they'll pick one you think is the shittiest, and it'll haunt you for years when you see it in the real world. Fucking bitches.
