My closet shelf collapsed in my last apartment, omg what a fuckin mess that was. Ripped out a big section of the wall to reveal the boards behind it - this was an old building in Chicago, at least 60 years old if not more.
The plaster dust was EVERYWHERE, I still find bits in pieces in shoes or clothes or jackets I rarely move, AND I AM IN A TOTALLY NEW APARTMENT SINCE AUGUST 2005! :D
It was horrible.
