Another point of mine is the idea of "globalization" takes much of the old "american spirit" wind out of the sails of a lot of people these days. It seems that many politicians are eager to sell out their nation to American leaders of multi-national corporations and I feel that is misguided. To think that many corporations locate themselves off-shore to avoid paying taxes to the country that allowed them to be so prosperous is troubling.

Mussolini aligned his fascist government with corporations over the interest of the people and I do not see much difference in our current American society. This has been going on far longer than George W Bush has been in office, but we are really seeing the nasty face of it right now.

I realize I am rambling, but that is another thing I see going on in current society. Our government is supposed to be "for the people and by the people" and I am having a hard time thinking that is really what is going on.

This is not to say I hate corporations, they have brought many great things, computers, automobiles etc. But I think this still would have happened if government was a bit more geared towards people than the corporations.
