It's *you're as in 'you are'...and I guess you don't read the news too well because football players are suspended pretty often lately.
Don't forget that he also lied to the NFL about his culpability, participated in gambling (which is also a huge no no when you play sports).
Another thing to think about is that when you, as a professional athlete, participate in things as dark and damaging as dog fighting; you leave yourself open to blackmail...i.e. Bob who is an unsavory individual knows that you, an athlete, participate in dog fighting. When he presents you with an opportunity to keep his knowledge out of the press in exchange for you screwing up a football game so that he can make a large sum of money, you would be pretty likely to accept Bobs offer. This is one of the reasons the NFL punishes players for doing stupid things.
