    my old man designed a dining table for my folks house.

    i guess the same could be done for a computer table.

    he sketched out a drawing of how the steel frame would look and gave measurements etc then just gave the designs to the local blacksmiths.
    Im pretty sure he got the frame built for about £40-60!
    (not bad for a unique selfdesigned 1-off frame!)
    then he bought a sheet of toughened glass to put on the top.

    couldnt get much simpler than that.

    the glass is the expensive part.

    if you are using a glass table for a computer then your optical mouse wont work on the glass.

    a wee tip is to get a "mousemat" sandblasted ONTO the glass. then your mouse will work fine :)
