Car badges can be really custom... At GM in Australia we used to lay them out about a foot wide using black tape, then shoot it in the Artiscope to make a mockup on clear film, paint on the back, stick on car model, say 'that looks fine', send artwork to guy who makes badge tooling... We were car designers who didn't know what a kerning was.
