Might want to sign up at lynda.com. They have a ton of topics there for different languages and web based design programs.
What kind of web design do you plan on doing? If it's Flash then you'll definitely want to get a beginners book and also the new Colin Moock book for AS3.0. I just got it in the mail and if you're just starting out it might be way over your head, but it's a great resource that will grow with your skill.
